The display screen of my Oppo mobile was damaged. To find out how I could get it replaced, I visited the Oppo website and called their hotline. The Customer Support was prompt and professional with their responses. I got the full details I asked for – the cost for replacing the display screen and the Oppo Service Centre numbers in Anna Nagar, Choolaimedu and Porur.When I called the Choolaimedu Service Centre, which was the closest to my place, I was told the display screen of my model was available and that it would take about an hour for it to be replaced. But there was almost a 1,000/- plus rupees difference in the cost quoted by them. When I enquired, I was told that the actual cost would be revealed only after the job is booked. It would be better if the customer is told what the exact cost would be upfront, to help them decide if they want to do the job or not.The exclusive Choolaimedu Oppo outlet is located bang on Nelson Manickam Main Road, on the left-hand side when you enter the road from the Loyola College direction, less than 500 meters from the subway. The Service Centre, which is annexed to the main showroom is a large, spacious, neat and clean zone, complete with liquid refreshments and a TV blaring the latest Tamil hits. A clean and well-maintained restroom would have made the place perfect !Upon review, I was told that the job would take about an hour or thereabouts to be completed. I was pleasantly surprised when within half-an-hour my mobile phone’s display screen was replaced. The billing procedure was simple and straightforward. Only the price was a tad higher than what was quoted by the company hotline. When I asked about the discrepancy in the cost, the counter person just said that that is the price displayed in their system. No further explanation was provided.A few days later, I received an unexpected call from the company Oppo Call Centre asking me if I was happy and satisfied with my visit to their Service Centre and whether the job was done to my complete satisfaction, or if I had any issues or complaints !! I told them everything went perfect. But the only niggle was the discrepancy in the costs. The company Oppo Call Centre Service person listened to my problem and explained the difference in the cost very clearly, saying that the excess cost was for the local Service Centre’s service charges ! It was as simple as that. But somehow, the Choolaimedu Service Centre person was clueless about it ! If only she had explained that to me, then and there, I would not have hesitated to give them a 5-star rating straightaway because of their otherwise seamless and an overall excellent customer experience !The only drawback that I faced at the service Centre was that the counter person kept on pestering me to give them a high and a positive customer review. She even mentioned that they had quoted over an hour for the display screen replacement job to be completed, but it was done in less than half of that time !! She did not stop there, but kept on asking me to give them a positive review, which was quite annoying. To make matters worse, before handing over my mobile back to me, she went to the extent of opening the Google review page on my phone and literally forcing me to give them a 5-star rating – which I obviously did not. They should not harass their customers like this for getting positive feedback. They should also know that they cannot arm-twist all their customers to give them a 5-star rating all the time.Oh, and one last thing, I was told that the invoice for the job done would be sent to me through WhatsApp that very same day. The job was done and dusted about a month ago … and I am yet to receive that invoice !!Barring these little glitches, my overall experience was definitely excellent ! I went there with a problem and my problem was solved satisfactorily. That's all that matters, at the end of the day !
